Sacred Journeys
Journeys designed to evoke an awareness of Self, of time across space, of a people and place, each tour embodies the experience of Soul’s journey. Joyce designs the journeys for the greatest opportunity to gain awareness of place and to open you to the powers of transformation that place provides. The sacred journey for 2007 will focus on Guatemala and the Mayan experiences of past and present. What can the ruins of Tikal open in you? How can Mayan peoples of the Highland inspire your life?
Tikal and the Mayan Highlands of Guatemala
February 1 to February 16, 2007
January 31, 2007 travel day to Flores, Guatemala
Be transformed by the past and inspired by a people and a place. Join us for this Mayan adventure.

Come discover the secrets of the Maya, past and present. In the land of mystery and majesty, we walk ancient paths among the ruins of Tikal, experience the Mayan world as a traveler of time, explore the ruins at sunset as they come alive with the sounds and essence of the jungle. Tikal is the greatest of the ancient Mayan city-sites and their Sacred Initiatic Center. It also is located exactly in the middle of the landmass that forms the pinwheel of the American continent and is built on land that is webbed with quartz crystal and alabaster. These factors may have contributed to the founding of this magnificent city.
The Mayan people were and still are a people who practice Shamanism. Sacred sites can still be observed within Tikal and we will discuss the importance of Shamanic practices in Mayan life.
We will visit with contemporary Mayan artisans in the Highlands, cruise the deep waters of Lake Atitlan and relax in the colonial charm of Antigua. We’ve planned a trip that is rich in beauty and experience off the beaten tourist path, designed for pleasure and comfort, plenty of time for birding, photography, and personal exploration.
This tour is designed for a slower pace, we spend five days in the Tikal area, four nights on Lake Atitlan and four nights in Antigua creating plenty of opportunities to explore and time to experience the land and the people. We will stay at the world acclaimed Casa Santo Domingo in Antigua. Once a 16th century Dominican convent, converted into a luxury hotel in the 1980’s, Casa Santo Domingo features a colonial reliquary, Mayan art museum, extraordinary gardens and architectural treasures.

Future Sacred Journeys:
Mystery and Mastery Series
This series uses the power of place to awaken intuition and to catalyze transformation in the participants. Evoking the potency of the technologies of ancient mystery, schools we create the space for the power of a sacred place to open doors of awareness and latent capacities. The ancient questing sites and earth power sites are chosen for this work based on the site’s remoteness and welcoming energy. We work with the sites in an honoring way embracing that only through our pure intention and honoring conduct will the gifts of the site be extended to us. This series is offered on a by request basis at this time. The format for the series is three-days, Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday morning. The time will be a combination of lecture, experiential processes, sacred time at the site or sites and closure. Contact Joyce for further details on location, potential dates and cost.
