Introduction to Mayan Cosmology and Shamanism
Join us for a soul's journey to the land of the Maya. Do you have a draw, a fascination with all things Mayan? Joyce is impassioned by the Mayan culture, past, present and future, and in Guatemala in particular.
A student of archeology and shamanism, Joyce is offering a day of stories, discoveries and new perspectives from Tzutujil Mayan experience in Guatemala.
- Learn Mayan cosmology and how this model informs their lives to the "layers" of creation. How can we gain from this model?
- Understand the significance of shamanism within the social/spiritual systems of village life. Learn some of the ways shamanism has survived the pressures of colonialism, Catholicism, and modernism.
- Discover how story reveals the cosmology and sustains the social, spiritual and health of the community and individual and how we can benefit from the same practice.
- Learn of yourself within their story and retell your story transformed.
- Glean a sense of the Mayan perspective on the year 2012. Is this Mayan Jump Time?
